Propp's theory applied to the text The Shining
The film the shining ( a rare successful big corporation film) when Propps Narrative Structure theory is applied can be described as accurate, but only to the point of using elements of Propp's theories. Such as the usage of textual elements described by Propp but in the Shining's case uses them sparingly and in an unconventional manner thus creating a counter argument to suggest that Propp's Narrative theory cannot be applied. CHaracter groups can be identified within the text but due to the lack of the diversity of characters the stereotypes can be present at more than one character and one character may contain more than one group i.e. Danny- Princess, Hero, victim ( sought after, self thinking, Pain from the Shining)
